Women's Department
The Women's Officer represents all undergraduate women on campus, so no matter what you've got a question or concern about, all women should feel free to contact the Women's Officer, even if she doesn't know the answer, she can tell you who does.
The Women's Department (of which every undergraduate woman is a member of) provides a valuable referral service for ANU women and ensures their voice is represented at ANUSA meetings and to the University at large.
What we can provide help with:
- Do you need a women's shelter?
- Are you being abused or assaulted at home or at uni?
- Need counselling?
- Need to know where to get emergency accommodation?
- Are you being discriminated against?
- Need information about STI's?
- Do you have an unplanned pregnancy?
- Are you being sexually harassed at work?
- Do you know anyone who is experiencing any of the above?
The Women's Department is confidential and non-judgmental and we can help you sort out your problems. Please feel free to contact the Women's Officer if you have any questions.
Want to get involved?
The Women's Collective is a small, non-political group of friendly, passionate and energetic people who implement women's policy at the ANU. They organise events such as Women's Wellbeing Week and the International Women's Day celebrations as well as developing campaigns that riase awareness about the issues ANU women face.
The Collective meets regularly and is always looking for more women to join! To come to a meeting just drop the Women's Officer an email and she will let you know when the next one is on!
The Women's Collective is also working on a report to present to the University towards the end of the year outlining the problems many women still face with accomodation, harrassment and discrimination amongst other things. If you would like to know more about the project or would like to contribute in any way, please contact the Women's Officer
The Rapunzel Room
Want a warm and tranquil place to read? Study? Chat with friends? The Rapunzel Room is a women's only space that can be used by any ANU woman. To find out its location and how to get in, contact the Women's Officer.
The Women's Department would like to thank the ANU Social Network of Women for their efforts in refurbishing the Rapunzel Room. The room is now stocked with tea and coffee making facilities, interesting reading and comfy couches. Anyone who would like to donate furniture is encouraged to contact the Women's Officer on 0419 129 512 or email.
