What is the Indigenous Department?
The Indigenous Officer represents the needs and concerns of Indigenous students at the ANU. The Indigenous Officer works in conjunction with the Jabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre to support the needs of the students. The Departments aim is to increase Indigenous Awareness on campus and to strengthen the Indigenous collective on campus by running a number of social events.
Want to get involved?
The Indigenous Department runs meeting every fortnight on thursday, 5pm at the Jabal Centre. It is chaired by the Indigenous Officer and all Indigenous Students are invited to attend. Semester two dates are:
AUGUST - 20th
SEPTEMBER - 3rd, 17th,
OCTOBER - 15th, 29th
Social Events
The Indigenous Department runs a movie night for all Indigenous students every Friday at the Jabal Centre from 6pm. feel from to come along and enjoy a movie and some snacks with your fellow Indigenous students. If you want to recommend a movie just shoot an email to the Indigenous Officer.

National Indigenous Tertiary Education Games
Next years 15th running of the Indigenous Games will be held at the University of Newcastle. It is a Nation wide sporting/social event contested by Indigenous students from all Universities around the Country. The games played are netball, basketball, volleyball and touch football. If you would like to be involved in planning for next years team the first meeting will be held on the 15th of October after the Department meeting. Meeting times are 5.30pm every second thursday:
