What is the Environment Collective (EC)?
- The EC is the main group at ANU for progressive people interested in environmental issues.
- It is a part of the Students' Association.
Why should you join?
- To be part of the solution and make ANU a progressive and sustainable community.
- To integrate your studies with real outcomes right here on campus.
- To engender the changes we need now to make our future better.
What does the EC do?
We:
- conduct environmental campaigns involving travelling away, e.g. the annual Students of Sustainability conference
- work to improve the environmental credentials of the ANU itself
- engage in environmental activism and awareness raising
- liase with other environmental groups to be a part of activism on a national and international scale
We do this with:
- letter writing campaigns
- movie screenings (GreenScreen)
- protests, stalls
- keeping people informed of environmental events in Canberra
- debates
- anything else you want!
Where does the EC meet?
- Meetings time are to be advised.
- Minutes are always available online.
- All are welcome. Drop by, discuss issues & pursue action with the EC.
- We regularly have stalls near Union Court.
- Posters are often put up by the group on Friday mornings.
- We have an email list to join. Visit http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/enviro.collective.announce
How is the EC run?
- The EC is highly inclusive and non-heirarchical. We have one convener, elected yearly who facilitates the group but has no greater authority than other members. It receives some yearly funding from ANUSA.
- Anyone can be involved; many are ANU students but this is not required.
- There is no cost to join and all work is voluntary.
How can I contact the EC?

You can also contact us here.
Where should I start?
We strongly recommend joining the mailing lists to receive our announcements (maximum of one digest email a day). You can raise any issues there or at meetings.
A campaign details sheet will be created as soon as we finalise who is responsible for different campaigns.
You can discuss the environment at the forum or find out more about us in the Collective Handbook.
You can also sign up and add your events to our Event calendar.
Also drop by the collective office in the ANUSA building where you can get our famous recycled lecture pads and folders. Come and save yourself, and the environment, with freebee stationery.
