How do I get money for my club/society from ANUSA?

You need to apply for a grant from the Grants and Affiliations Committee (GAC). To do this, you need to fill out a form (see Clubs & Societies Forms link below). You’ll need to tell us what your planned events are and how much you’ll need, and what you’ll be spending your money on. It’s useful to prepare a short Excel document which details all this. You’ll then be booked in for an appointment with the Committee. They will go through your application and ask you any questions they require (eg are you looking for other sources of funding as well). The Committee will then decide how much to give you, and you’ll be able to collect a cheque for that amount within a week or so. The Committee has a convention that it will not grant money for the purposes of buying alcohol.

Do I have to use the money given on what I said I would?

Yes. The ANUSA’s accounts are audited every year, and part of this process means auditing all clubs and societies accounts as well.You will have to reconcile the amount of money we give you at the end of the year. This means that we will require confirmation that you have spent the money we gave in the way you said you would. Reconciliations are due in December of each year, and usually consist of a completed budget and attached receipts and/or bank statements. So make sure you keep these!

If you don’t hand in your reconciliations or your documentation does not comply with your grant documents, you will not be able to reaffiliate that club or society in the following year. You can also apply for photocopy and mailout points from the C&S Committee. You will need to fill in the application form and put it in to the Committee meeting. You do not need to attend to get these points, just come in the week after the meeting to enquire if you received the amount requested and collect. For photocopy points you will be required to leave a $5.00 deposit on the photocopy card which will be reimbursed when you return the card.
